What you can keep in it
- The card number with the barcode. QR codes and EAN codes too, so almost any card fits.
- The PIN. Hidden until you tap it, so no one can see.
- The balance. Update it after a purchase, so you always know what's left on it.
- The expiry date. Cards that are about to expire are at the top, and you'll get an email about them.
At the till your screen stays on while the code is shown, so it won't go dark at exactly the wrong moment. Hard to scan on a narrow screen? Rotate the code a quarter turn and it becomes a lot wider.
Safely stored
A gift card is just like cash: anyone with the number and the PIN can spend the credit. That's why we store them encrypted: they are never readable in our database, and we only use them to show them to you. In your overview you only see the last four digits; the full number only appears when you open the card.
The barcode is created on your own device and not by anyone else. So your card details don't go anywhere else. If you delete your account, your cards go with it.
