Cookie policy

Last updated: October 29, 2026

This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies cashbackie.com uses, who sets them, why and for how long. It also explains how you can agree, refuse, change your choice or withdraw your consent. Some technologies are needed for the site and for cashback, and the invitation cookie belongs to a feature you use yourself (section 6); we only use all the others with your consent.

1. Who is responsible?

cashbackie.com is run by Cashbackie V.O.F., a general partnership under Dutch law (vennootschap onder firma), Heije Schaperloane 13, 9269 PL Veenwouden, the Netherlands, registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce under number 42105678. More details are on our company information page.

We are responsible for the technologies we use ourselves. If you agree, third parties also set their own cookies, which they may also use for their own purposes. For collecting and sending information through the Meta Pixel, we are joint controllers with Meta. When you go to a shop through our tracking link, the affiliate network, and sometimes the shop itself, sets the tracking cookie.

These are the third parties; each explains in its own privacy policy what it does with your information:

2. What are cookies and similar technologies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. Other techniques have the same effect, for example your browser's local storage, session storage, the cache of a service worker, or a script that reads information from your device.

We are based in the Netherlands, so the European rules for cookies apply to our site, also when you visit from the United States (the ePrivacy Directive; in Dutch law, article 11.7a of the Telecommunications Act). Under these rules, information may only be stored on or read from your device with your consent, unless this is only for sending a communication or is strictly necessary to provide a service you have asked for. What we do with personal information is set out in our privacy notice.

3. Your choice in the banner

On your first visit, a banner asks for your choice. "Reject all" and "Accept all" sit side by side, the same size and the same style:

  • "Reject all": only the necessary technologies are used.
  • "Accept all": you agree to analytics and marketing.
  • "Choose myself": you decide per purpose ("Analytics", "Marketing") and then click "Save choice". No box is checked in advance.

Refusing is as easy as agreeing, and refusing has no effect on the service: you can sign up, earn cashback and have it paid out just the same.

Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as an opt-out of marketing. The banner then shows that marketing stays off, the "Marketing" box can't be checked, and "Accept all" only accepts analytics.

Until you have made a choice, no technology for analytics or marketing is used: the tools of Google, Meta, Awin, Cloudflare and Metricool are not loaded and receive no request from your browser. Only the shop logos are loaded from the servers of the affiliate networks (see section 9). If you close the page without choosing, this counts as no consent.

Your choice applies for six months, whether you agreed or refused. After that it no longer counts: technologies that need consent are no longer loaded and the banner asks again. Your choice is stored in your browser (see cookie_consent_v1 below), not on our servers; so it applies to the browser and the device you are using. If you clear your browser data, the banner appears again.

4. Necessary: without consent

These technologies are strictly necessary for running the site, keeping your account secure or storing your choice. They are set by Cashbackie and are not used for advertising or analytics.

Name Type Purpose How long
__Secure-cashbackie_session Cookie Keeping your session going, even if you are not logged in 2 hours after the last page you visited
XSRF-TOKEN Cookie Protecting forms against CSRF attacks 2 hours after the last page you visited
remember_web_… Cookie Keeping you logged in if you choose "Stay logged in", and always if you sign in with Google or Facebook 400 days
cookie_consent_v1 Local storage Storing your choice in the banner and when you made it The choice applies for six months; the entry stays in your browser until you choose again or delete it
cb-app-banner, cb-ext-banner, cb-ext-done, cb-review-asked, cb_seasonal_dismiss Local storage Remembering that you closed a notice or have already installed our extension Until you clear your browser data
cb_verif_resend_at Local storage Remembering when you asked for the confirmation email again, to show the waiting time Until you clear your browser data
cb_check and cb_t Cookie and local storage Checking on the "Cashback check" page in your dashboard whether your browser allows cookies and local storage Deleted right after the check
cas Session storage Keeping your chat with Cas when you move to another page; only stored once you open the chat Until you close the tab
cashbackie-static-v2 Browser cache (service worker) Keeping a copy of the site's fixed files (design, scripts, images, offline page) so that the site loads faster and stays readable without a connection; no HTML pages, no account data and no login details Until the cache is replaced in an update of the site or you clear the site's data

If you sign in with Google or Facebook, you are sent to their site; their own cookie rules apply there.

5. Tracking cookies for cashback: without consent

To pay you cashback, the shop needs to know that your purchase came from us. When you are logged in and click a shop's link, we send you to the affiliate network, which sends you on to the shop. The network, and sometimes the shop, sets a tracking cookie on its own domain. It links your purchase to your click through an identifier that we add to the link: a pseudonymous member number and a click number. We don't pass on your name or email address.

Provider Purpose How long
Awin and other affiliate networks (and sometimes the shop) Linking your purchase to your click, so that we can pay you the cashback 30 to 90 days, depending on the network

Only logged-in members with a confirmed email address can use these links; anyone who is not logged in is sent to the login page first. These cookies are strictly necessary for the cashback service you explicitly asked for when you signed up: without the cookie, the shop can't record your cashback. You can manage these cookies in your browser settings.

6. The invitation cookie

Name Type Purpose How long
cb_ref Cashbackie cookie Storing the code of the member who invited you, to link your sign-up to that invitation 30 days or until you sign up

This cookie is only set if, while not logged in, you open a page through a link that contains a member's code (for example a link someone sent you). It only contains that code. If you then open another member's link, that member's code counts. If you create an account within 30 days, by email, with Google or with Facebook, your account is linked to that member and the cookie is deleted. The member who invited you can then receive the referral reward from our terms and conditions; if it is a promoter, they receive a share of what we earn on your purchases. After you sign up, we also use the link to count what share of sign-ups comes through invitations.

The cookie belongs to the invitation feature, which you use by opening the invitation link: without it we couldn't link your sign-up to the invitation. It is not used for advertising. If you don't want your sign-up to be linked to an invitation, delete the cookies of cashbackie.com in your browser before you sign up.

7. Analytics: only with your consent

If you agree to analytics, we use:

Name Set by Purpose How long
_ga, _ga_… Google Analytics 4 (Google) Measuring how the site is used: pages visited, length of visits, type of device 13 months after your last visit
cb_acq Cashbackie Storing where your visit came from, if you come from another site (including a search engine) or through a campaign link: the referring page, the campaign details in the link and the first page you visited 30 days
cb_herkomst Cashbackie, through a script in your browser Passing the page's origin to our server so that it can create cb_acq Deleted at the next page, at the latest after 24 hours
Cloudflare Web Analytics Cloudflare, Inc. Counting visits, without a cookie and without recognizing you; the script sends the page address, the referring page and loading-time measurements No cookie
Metricool website statistics Metricool Software S.L. Counting visits, without a cookie; the script sends the page address, the referring page and the screen size No cookie

We have limited the lifetime of the _ga and _ga_… cookies to 13 months, instead of the two years Google uses by default. Cloudflare Web Analytics and Metricool don't set cookies, but do read details from your browser; so on cashbackie.com we only load them after you have given your consent.

About cb_acq: our server only sees where you came from when you arrive, that is, before your choice. So your browser only passes on the origin once you have agreed to analytics, in the cb_herkomst cookie, on every page you visit for as long as your consent applies. Nothing is passed on if you come from cashbackie.com itself and the link contains no campaign details. Our server only creates cb_acq if you are not logged in and don't have one yet. If you create an account, we store the details in your account and delete the cookie; what we do with them afterward is in the privacy notice. We use them to know which channels bring members to us, not to build a profile of you.

8. Marketing: only with your consent

If you agree to marketing, we use:

Service Name Purpose How long
Google Ads (Google) _gcl_au, and _gcl_aw if you came through an ad Measuring which ad led to a sign-up, and showing you Cashbackie ads on other sites 3 months
Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, for Facebook and Instagram) _fbp, and _fbc if you came through an ad Measuring what our ads bring in (pages visited, completed sign-up), and showing you Cashbackie ads 3 months
Awin MasterTag (Awin) Script from www.dwin2.com; which functions and cookies it uses is set by Awin through its plug-ins Letting Awin measure what our links to partner shops bring in As stated by Awin

Google and Meta may also set cookies on their own domain, for example IDE (doubleclick.net, 13 months) and fr (facebook.com, 3 months).

If you have agreed to marketing and create an account, we send Google a hash (SHA-256) of your email address. Google matches it against the addresses of Google accounts to work out whether your sign-up followed one of our ads.

As long as you haven't agreed to marketing, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, none of these tools is loaded and none of their technologies is used; Google Ads, the Meta Pixel and the MasterTag receive no request from your browser. Under California law, showing you our ads on other sites counts as "sharing"; see section 13 of the privacy notice.

9. Images from other servers

The shop logos are loaded from the servers of the affiliate networks. To load a file, your browser sends that server the technical details of each connection, such as your IP address and the type of your browser. We don't load these files to track you, and they are not used for analytics or advertising.

When it does so, Awin's image server (ui.awin.com) sets a cookie on its own domain, ak_bmp_awin, which is deleted when you close your browser. We have no control over this; depending on your settings, your browser blocks such third-party cookies.

10. What we measure without accessing your device

Our server records each page visited, including the page, the referring page, the country, the type of device, the browser and the operating system. To count visitors without a cookie, it works out a code from your IP address and your browser that changes every day. Nothing is stored on or read from your device for this. We keep this information for no longer than 400 days; see the privacy notice.

11. Changing your choice or withdrawing consent

You can change your choice or withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as you gave it:

  • Through "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page: the banner opens with your current choice. You can reject all, accept all or change your choice per purpose.
  • If you withdraw analytics, we delete the _ga cookies of cashbackie.com, the page reloads without Google Analytics, Cloudflare Web Analytics and Metricool, and our server then deletes cb_acq.
  • If you withdraw marketing, we delete the _gcl, _fbp and _fbc cookies of cashbackie.com, and the page reloads without Google Ads, the Meta Pixel and the Awin MasterTag.

We can't delete cookies that Google, Meta or Awin have set on their own domain; you can do that in your browser settings. Withdrawing consent applies to the future and doesn't affect what happened before. Source details already stored in your account when you signed up stay there; you can ask for them to be deleted, as described in the privacy notice.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Without the necessary technologies, however, the site won't work properly, and without a tracking cookie the shop can't record your cashback.

12. Your rights

The information collected through these technologies is personal information. Your rights, under the GDPR and under the privacy laws of US states, and where your information is stored, including with Google, Meta and Cloudflare, are described in our privacy notice.

13. Changes

We may change this policy, for example when we add or remove a service. The date at the top shows the last change. Before we use a technology that needs consent for a new purpose or through a new service, we will ask you again.

14. Contact
