When is Black Friday 2026? Dates, Cyber Monday and how to spot a real deal

Black Friday 2026 is on Friday, November 27, the day after Thanksgiving, which falls on Thursday, November 26. Cyber Monday follows on Monday, November 30.

Most stores don't wait until Friday. Deals often start earlier in the week, and many run through Cyber Monday. Earlier in the month, Singles Day on November 11 brings discounts too, mostly from electronics sellers and stores based in Asia.

The 2026 dates at a glance

Plan ahead instead of buying on impulse

• Make a list now of what you were going to buy anyway: a TV, winter boots, the first holiday gifts.
• Write down today's price. It's the only way to know on the day whether the discount is real.
• Set a budget for the whole weekend, not per item.
• Create your accounts ahead of time and check your shipping address. On Black Friday, sites slow down and popular items sell out fast.

Spotting a discount that isn't one

A big percentage means little if the starting price was inflated. Two things help:

• Compare stores. A discount at one store says nothing about what another store charges for the same model.

Pay with a card that protects you

How you pay matters if something goes wrong. With a credit card, you can dispute a charge for an order that never arrives. More in How to dispute a credit card charge.

Earn cashback on top

Buying gifts early? Check the return policy

There is no general federal right to return something just because you changed your mind: what you can return, and for how long, depends on the store's policy. If you buy holiday gifts on Black Friday, check how long the store gives you, and take a screenshot of the policy.
